III. Products and services

CPR –  Spectrum Educators offers American Heart Association and EMS Safety Services CPR programs.  American Heart Association CPR includes the Healthcare Provider certification, and other CPR courses for professional and layperson certifications.  Both American Heart Association and EMS courses are based on the latest OSHA, AMA, and scientifically based information and guidelines. Courses are disseminated through a booklet and corresponding videotape. All classes include ample time for hands-on practice, followed by an annotated review of a written test and skills validation with manikins.

Courses are approximately 4-6 hours and there is a maximum of 10 students per instructor.

1st Aid - This course describes the necessary actions of a first responder in ordinary everyday accidents and emergencies. The materials used in instruction are from EMS Safety Specialists. There is a booklet with corresponding videotape. One of the main goals of this course is to ease the tension and uncertainty of one's actions during a crisis situation. There is discussion regarding evaluation of the scene in relation to potential injuries and the maintenance of control of the scene to further prevent injury. Hands-on practice and skills practicum involve victim evaluation, history taking and evaluation of injuries. The practicing of splinting and the control of bleeding using commercial as well as everyday items is demonstrated. The students are then required to demonstrate, through random selection, to the rest of the class the skills they have acquired. There is then group discussion as to the appropriateness of treatment based on their assessment and if any other methods would be more effective.

This course takes approximately 4 hours for the entry level and approximately 6 hours for the advanced level due to further in-depth discussion of anatomy and pathophysiology. There is a maximum of 10 students per instructor.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - This course is designed for medical professionals working in areas where victims of heart attack and stroke require immediate medical intervention to save their life. The information is based on the latest research, clinical trials and information coordinated by the American Heart Association. Heart Disease and Stroke are the two cores' of review and the evaluation and treatment of these disorders are the basis of the course. There are numerous published literary resources used in the teaching of this course but the textbook of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (required) and the Handbook of Emergency Cardiac Care (recommended) are of the greatest help to the student. The course is cased-based in relation to the different causes and treatment of cardiopulmonary arrest and stroke. There is ample time for hands on practice with manikins, defibrillators and other medical supplies. Students are required to take an annotated exam with remediation and perform a leadership role in a skills validation of the treatment of a cardiac arrest victim.

This course is 2 days (14-16 hours) in length for the first timer and 1 day (6-8 hours) for the renewal of the validation card. There is a third option for those who frequently care for victims in cardiopulmonary arrest; this requires 4-6 hours of review, testing and skills validation. There is a maximum of 10 students to each instructor but better results have been found at an 8:1 ratio.

Continuing Education Courses - Registered Nurses are required to take education courses that enhance their level of knowledge. Each 50 minutes of class or instruction is equal to 1 CEU. Each RN is required to have 30 CEU's every 2 years in order to maintain their licensure. The Board of Registered Nursing grants provider numbers only to those applicants who show an advanced level of educational instruction and mastery of subject matter. This company’s owner and founder, Troy Seagondollar, RN, BSN has been granted this status.
